How to Sell Multiple Semi Trucks

August 20, 2026

Selling one truck is straightforward. Selling multiple trucks — whether it's three units or thirty — is a different process. The good news is that with the right approach, selling multiple semi trucks can be faster and simpler than selling them one at a time. Here's how to do it efficiently.

Start With a Fleet List

The first step is to build a list of every truck you want to sell. For each truck, you'll need:

  • VIN — The 17-character vehicle identification number. This is the most important piece; it lets a buyer decode the exact specs automatically.
  • Unit number — Your internal number for the truck (optional, but helpful for keeping track).
  • Mileage — Current odometer reading.
  • Location — Where the truck is parked (city and state is enough to start).

You can gather VINs by walking the yard with a clipboard, pulling them from your fleet management software, or exporting a spreadsheet. If you have a fleet list in a spreadsheet or PDF already, you can upload it directly — no special template is needed.

Take Advantage of Shared Specs

If your trucks are similar — same make, same model year range, same engine and transmission — you don't need to enter every spec for every truck. Most fleets run standardized specs. You can enter the shared details once (engine manufacturer, transmission type, cab type, condition) and apply them to all trucks, then note exceptions on individual units.

This saves significant time when you're selling 5, 10, or 50 trucks. You only enter the shared information once.

Photos: Representative vs. Individual

If your trucks are similar in condition and spec, you don't need to photograph every single one before submitting. Representative photos — a few shots of a typical truck in the fleet — are enough to start the evaluation. If a specific truck has unique damage or condition issues, add photos for that unit.

For a fleet submission, useful photos include:

  • A few exterior shots (both sides, front, rear) of a representative truck
  • Interior / cab shot
  • Dashboard / odometer to confirm mileage
  • Engine photo
  • Any damage or problem areas on specific units

Pricing: Group vs. Individual

When selling multiple trucks, you have three pricing options:

  1. Set one price for the entire group — "I want $X for all 10 trucks." This is the simplest approach and works well when the trucks are similar.
  2. Individual asking prices — If some trucks are worth more than others (different mileage, condition, or specs), you can set per-truck prices.
  3. No asking price — let the buyer make an offer — This is the most common approach. You submit the fleet, the buyer evaluates each truck, and you receive an offer for the group or for individual units.

There's no obligation to accept any offer. You can also negotiate — accept the offer on some trucks and decline on others.

The Submission Process

  1. Choose your method — Paste VINs, upload a fleet list, or enter trucks one at a time.
  2. Review and add details — Confirm the decoded specs are correct, add shared details, and note any exceptions.
  3. Set pricing preference — Group price, individual prices, or "make me an offer."
  4. Enter contact info once — Your name, phone, email, and company info apply to the entire fleet. You only enter it once.
  5. Submit — The buyer reviews every truck and reaches out with an offer.

The whole process can take as little as 10 minutes for a fleet of 10-20 trucks if your VINs are ready.

What Happens After You Submit

A buyer will review each truck in your fleet — decoding VINs, checking specs, evaluating condition and photos — and come back with an offer. For larger fleets, this may take a few days. You'll typically get:

  • An offer for the entire group, or
  • Individual offers per truck, or
  • Interest in some trucks and a pass on others

You're in control. You can accept, decline, or negotiate on any or all of the trucks.
